Read Our Core Values
Asking for a promotion is tricky business and must be approached strategically and with care. First, Do not ask for a promotion unless you have been in a position for at least a year. Second, You should have a track record of proven accomplishments that will support your request. Third, build a reputation as someone who is a team player, has taken on more responsibilities and consistently adds value. Fourth, Assume duties for job functions that are critical and essential to the organization. Fifth, approach your manager with professionalism. Never use an ultimatum approach. Begin your conversation with how much you like the company and appreciate the opportunities you have had. Discuss your accomplishments and your goals for the future. Make it clear that even if a promotion is denied, you will remain loyal to the organization. If denied, ask what steps you can take in the future to warrant a promotion.
