How To Write a Resume That Survives Both ATS and AI Summaries.

Your resume now faces two machines before a person. An ATS reads the file for titles, dates, keywords, and clean format. Then an AI tool often summarizes the page and hands that short brief to a recruiter. If the summary is vague, the original page may never get opened.

Write so both systems can use you.

• Use one column, standard headings, and a Word file unless the posting asks for a PDF.
• Lead bullets with an action, the scope, and a result a stranger can repeat.
• Put real tools and titles in the same words the job uses, but only when they are true.
• Test the page in plain text. If dates and titles scramble, the ATS will scramble them too.

AI can draft a layout. It cannot recover the constraint you worked under or the number you actually moved. Those details are what make a summary accurate and a recruiter curious. That is the work a professional writer still does.
